Position Overview

The Plant Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the engineering and maintenance operations within the facility. This position is responsible for directing all engineering, project management, and maintenance activities to ensure optimal plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Organize and manage engineering and maintenance tasks, ensuring efficient operation of the plant.
  • Design and Installation: Coordinate the design, layout, and maintenance of production equipment and building systems, adhering to corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Project Scheduling: Develop and manage project and maintenance schedules to guarantee continuous plant operations.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish targets for department efficiency, including downtime and repair costs, and guide teams to meet these objectives.
  • Vendor Management: Identify and negotiate with vendors for construction projects and maintenance supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Process Improvement: Research and implement enhancements to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical guidance to production teams to resolve issues and enhance equipment utilization.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance work and regulatory compliance.
  • Utility Monitoring: Analyze utility usage and implement strategies to reduce costs.
  • Budget Development: Collaborate with management to formulate the capital budget and project requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage in teams aimed at improving organizational processes and support other facilities as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and governmental regulations.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular and ad hoc reports on project status and maintenance activities.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage the performance of team members, fostering a productive work environment.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of seven years in a leadership role within maintenance or engineering, preferably in the food industry.
  • Expert knowledge of applicable regulations for manufacturing facilities.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints and schematics.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to manage complex projects with significant capital investment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve goals.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment with physical demands.
