Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Accounts Receivable Specialist ensures that all accounts payable invoices, credit card statements, and reimbursement requests are processed and paid on time. This role is responsible for maintaining and updating accounts payable information to provide an accurate resource for inter-departmental research and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process daily transactions and produce monthly student statements.
  • Post cash receipts and reconcile billings to monthly payment plan spreadsheets.
  • Assist in the Financial Aid process and set up payment plans with students in billing software.
  • Prepare month-end reconciliations and assist parents with student accounts.
  • Enter Extended Day charges and process AP cash disbursements.
  • Prepare necessary journal entries and calculate and record used tax for quarterly reports.
  • Direct and process the annual supplies order and process year-end Forms 1099.
  • Assist in month-end closing and maintain vendor and payment filing records.
  • Process gift entries into Senior Systems and assist with preparing monthly payroll.
  • Ensure all timecards are accurate and request pay from employees.
  • Assist with administering benefits, including open enrollment, and assist in the new hire and employee background check process.
  • Assist and prepare necessary filings with regulatory agencies and comply with all policies and regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience required.
  • Solid knowledge of the non-profit accounting model and this accounting role.
  • Proficient in accounting functions in Senior Systems AR and AP module strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Senior Systems Admissions and Development modules.
  • Proficient in using 3-party payroll service providers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to sit and keyboard for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (full file boxes).
