Job Summary

The Vice President of Human Resources at the YMCA of Montclair is a key member of the CEO's senior leadership team, responsible for developing and implementing talent management and human resources policies, plans, and services. This includes recruitment, selection, legal compliance, employee benefits, compensation, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, employment practices, and employee communications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement talent management strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, and hiring processes to ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, including EEOC and Department of Labor requirements
  • Develop and maintain performance management and appraisal programs to drive employee growth and development
  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs, including job classification, salary structure, and salary adjustments
  • Manage HR systems and employee records to ensure accuracy and improve operational effectiveness
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement organizational strategies
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and supervisors on HR-related matters
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field required; master's or law degree highly preferred
  • At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge and professional experience in planning and policy, talent management, selection, compensation, benefits, training, and staff development
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources
  • Proficiency in business and human resources-related computer applications, including talent management systems, time, and attendance systems
  • Senior human resources certification (SPHR or equivalent) preferred
  • YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred
