The Vice President of API Development will play a pivotal role in shaping our API strategy, leading the development of robust API solutions, and driving the integration of APIs across our products and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong development background, extensive experience in API design and management, and a proven track record in leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive API strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of API developers and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
  • Technical Oversight: Oversee the design, development, and deployment of APIs, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to define API requirements and enhance product offerings.
  • Industry Trends: Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies, leveraging insights to drive continuous improvement in our API ecosystem.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with stakeholders, presenting API strategies and updates to executive leadership and other departments.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure APIs comply with relevant regulations and security standards, implementing best practices in API management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on API design and implementation.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, managing technical teams and projects.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
