Job Summary

We are seeking a part-time Supervising Dentist to support our dental clinic, where dental hygiene students practice their clinical skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dentistry and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review medical history of patients and determine if medical consultation is required before treatment.
  • Complete patient exams annually, including periodic, comprehensive, oral cancer screenings, and/or school exams.
  • Conduct patient screenings for periodontal disease.
  • Enter exam notes into patient's chart.
  • Provide patient referrals as necessary.
  • Authorize sealants, radiographs, and retakes.
  • Manage radiology log book, including checking in/out of sensors and tracking student retakes.
  • Personally evaluate radiographs assigned by students and return them to faculty within 2 weeks.
  • Review radiographs with students who require assistance.
  • Provide direct supervision for local anesthesia administration and clinical Nitrous Oxide rotations.
  • Assume responsibility for client management during medical emergencies.
  • Provide palliative care for minor dental issues.
Requirements
  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five years experience as a practicing dentist.
  • Valid Illinois Dentist License.
  • Working knowledge of an Associate Degree Dental Hygiene Program/Philosophy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills necessary to interface with students and the general public.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and their common instructional applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Compliance with CODA.
Work Environment

This is a part-time position with flexible hours up to 19 hours per week.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is $65.00 per hour.
