Warehouse Shipping Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor is a key role within the Swisher organization, responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective movement of goods from shipping points to storage and/or work areas. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train shipping and warehouse staff to ensure quality and company standards are met
  • Read and interpret shipping notices, invoices, and orders to determine priorities and shipping methods
  • Communicate shipping schedules and monitor all outgoing and incoming freights
  • Inspect loading and unloading operations to ensure compliance
  • Direct the movement of goods and coordinate product movement with other departments as required
  • Receive and resolve product returns, identify product defects, and determine if returned merchandise should be repackaged or destroyed
  • Maintain inventory and safe storage of all raw materials and finished goods
  • Carry out regular inventory reconciliation of supplied materials
  • Ensure a safe work culture and compliance with all safety, environmental, and company policies
  • Provide shipping reports by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing performance records and data
  • Foster a spirit of cooperation within and between factory departments
  • Assume responsibility for the operation of any department to which assigned
  • Maintain complete and accurate knowledge of contractual obligations with the Union and conduct manufacturing operations with proper regard for Union relations
  • Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action

Qualifications:

  • Forklift experience required
  • Intermediate level of experience with productivity tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Independently motivated, with the ability to take on tasks and duties without immediate direction
  • Ability to maintain daily workflow and deal with complex issues
  • Ability to read and completely understand the current Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset and work style

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a business-related field and/or five to eight years of experience in a tobacco manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NetSuite, DSI, and/or UKG experience
  • Knowledge of FDA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
