The COMET initiative encompasses comprehensive management and execution of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations. These efforts are pivotal in supporting various space programs.

A profound understanding of system architecture is essential for designing and executing system-level test scenarios. The System Software Quality Assurance Engineer will be tasked with developing and conducting testing campaigns for newly developed software. The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen to quickly assimilate knowledge and apply it to large-scale, multi-platform acceptance testing.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating the verification of the Launch Control Subsystem (LCS) System Software while collaborating with various teams that support the System Test Group.
  • Enhancing verification testing by developing new testing and performance monitoring tools to validate system-level requirements.
  • Contributing to the Test Engineering team for the LCS, engaging with multiple testing groups associated with the Space Launch System (SLS) Firing Room.
  • Participating in training sessions, both independently and as part of a team, to gain insights into LCS and performance testing methodologies.
  • Engaging in design reviews, technical evaluations, and System Use Case Analysis Tasks to assess the impact of new capabilities on existing systems and software dependencies.
  • Assisting with various duties within the Test Engineering department, including presentations, discussions, and process enhancements.
  • Executing additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a relevant IT specialization is required.

This position is available at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience and organizational needs, we may consider applicants at any level for which this position is advertised.

Job Requirements:

  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, coding, and testing is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with various software tools for managing requirements, test procedures, and workflow.
  • Ability to interpret written information and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with the Linux Operating System.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience in performance monitoring at the system or developer level is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience with large-scale systems is preferred.
  • Bash scripting experience is a plus.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status is required if offered a position.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to navigate stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, and accessing remote structures.
  • Must be able to evacuate quickly in case of an emergency.

Work Environment:

  • May require work both indoors and outdoors across the testing complex.
  • Position may necessitate daily travel to various site locations.
  • Walking on uneven terrain may be required.
  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
  • All work must adhere to safety standards.

  • Various testing equipment.
