Department Overview

The Enterprise Public Works Coordination Team is a dedicated group that collaborates locally to ensure that PG&E secures the necessary permits for each project. This team provides resources and guidance to ensure compliance with agency permitting requirements and public safety, while continuously striving to enhance relationships and customer experiences with local municipalities.

Position Summary

This role is represented by Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) and is subject to collective bargaining.

The Permit Facilitator is tasked with managing the complete process for the submission and acquisition of local agency permits. This includes liaising with local jurisdictions to obtain permits and understand their requirements. The role involves daily communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders and developing expertise in permitting.

This position operates in a hybrid model, allowing work from a remote office as well as the assigned work location based on business needs.

Compensation

PG&E provides a range for the hourly rate that reflects the company's good faith estimate for this position. The actual hourly rate will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $42.84 to $66.20.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review project scopes to determine the necessity for encroachment permits and Traffic Control Plans.
  • Draft permit sketches based on construction drawings provided by lines of business (LOBs) that comply with agency-specific criteria and complete permit applications.
  • Coordinate, acquire, and renew permits for all assigned projects.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders regarding upcoming permits, their status, and any requirements or conditions.
  • Support the Agency Liaison in coordinating encroachment permitting and public works as necessary.
  • Select or acquire appropriate Traffic Control Plans according to PG&E and agency requirements.
  • Provide information on site restoration requirements as needed.
  • Create, run, and present reports related to the encroachment permitting process.
  • Coordinate with relevant personnel to facilitate the payment of permit fees to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all permit application packages are submitted to the appropriate agency by the Permit Submittal Deadline.
  • Track permits from pre-submittal to closure in SAP, including managing notifications and updating permit statuses.
  • Communicate any specific or new requirements on approved permits to relevant parties.
  • Coordinate permit-related job closeout activities with clerical staff.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • At least one year of experience in construction, engineering, estimating/design, or work management.
  • CADD experience is required for external hires and desired for internal candidates.

Desired:

  • Functional understanding of Microsoft Office, SAP, and other reporting and monitoring tools.
  • Functional understanding of Primavera P6 is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders.
