Research and Training Specialist for Community Partnerships

We are seeking a highly skilled Community-Engaged Research and Training Specialist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of community-engaged research and training initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Training Programs: Design and deliver training modules for faculty, staff, and students on community-engaged research best practices, aligned with the Commonwealth of Virginia's goals and objectives.
- Grant Writing and Support: Assist faculty and students in identifying funding opportunities and provide support in writing successful grant proposals for community-engaged research projects.
- Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship and guidance to faculty and students involved in community-engaged research, helping them navigate research processes and community engagement.
- Research Support: Offer expertise and support in designing, implementing, and evaluating community-engaged research projects.
- Infrastructure Development: In partnership with research units, advocate for the alignment of policies and procedures to support community-engagement in research.
- Networking and Collaboration: Promote the Commonwealth of Virginia's community-engaged research scholarship with other universities and institutions to promote research collaborations and disseminate exemplary community-engaged research efforts.
- Ph.D. in a Relevant Field: A Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as social sciences, public health, education, or a related discipline.
- Training Experience: Proven experience in curriculum development and training at the university level, with an emphasis on community-engaged research methods, practices, and scholarship.
- Research Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in community-engaged research, including a track record of successful grant funding and securing external funding for community-engaged research projects.
- Community Engagement: Experience integrating academic research with community partner needs and promoting bidirectional application and benefit of research.
- Communication and Leadership Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and support faculty, staff, and community stakeholders to promote community-engaged research, as well as strong leadership skills to work collaboratively and guide and mentor faculty and students in community-engaged research.
- Experience in Curriculum Development: Experience in developing and implementing curricula for community-engaged research training programs.
- Grant Writing Experience: Experience in writing successful grant proposals for community-engaged research projects.
- Mentorship Experience: Experience in mentoring faculty and students in community-engaged research.
The Commonwealth of Virginia offers a competitive salary range of $85,000-$100,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth and development.
