Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Activity Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our Student Life department, you will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive environment for our student-athletes. Your primary focus will be on monitoring and engaging with students during social and ancillary activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage with students during social events and activities, promoting social growth and inclusion.
  • Monitor students throughout campus, enforcing policies and procedures to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to students, serving as a responsible adult presence on and off campus.
  • Collaborate with Student Life leadership to address concerns and escalate issues as needed.
  • Coordinate with security staff to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Attend and contribute to department meetings, staying informed about campus events and policies.
  • Communicate and enforce disciplinary actions for policy violations.
  • Develop and implement emergency response and crisis management plans for various situations.
  • Communicate openly and regularly with students and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Good judgment and sensitivity when interacting with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent guest service skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with students in a similar age range (grades 6-12).
  • Experience in counseling, crisis response, and mediation.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities.
  • Must be able to handle outdoor temperatures for extended periods.
  • Must be able to move around campus, including stairs and uneven terrain.
