Job Title: Professional Practice Leader

At HealthEcareers - Client, we are seeking a highly skilled Professional Practice Leader to join our team. This role serves as a consultant and subject matter clinician for a service line/specialty area, functioning at the Expert level of Benner's model of clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide education and development to direct patient care staff
  • Be accountable for the care outcomes of a service line or clinical population
  • Lead and coordinate interprofessional activities focusing on clinical practice, consultation, education, and research
Essential Functions:People:
  • Promote interprofessional collaboration in patient care
  • Partner with department leadership to define priorities of service line/specialty department
  • Build partnerships across the system and strive for consensus in practice
Service:
  • Indirectly affect patient care through the bedside RN
  • Oversee transition to independent practice of clinicians
  • Direct and mentor teams in implementing clinical projects and/or practice changes
Quality/Safety:
  • Identify gaps in practice through competency assessment, observation, or available measures
  • Collaborate with Quality team regarding patient safety events
  • Utilize dashboards to maintain awareness of patient outcome measures and system patient care metrics
Finance:
  • Build a project plan for practice change while considering financial implications
  • Contribute to unit plans for resource utilization and capital needs
Growth/Innovation:
  • Engage the learner for continued professional growth
  • Apply theories of change to support staff and promote evidence-based decision-making
  • Champion and lead innovative initiatives to obtain service line/department-specific focus or specialty designations

Requirements:
  • Master's degree
  • Master of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Clinical Nurse Leader or Clinical Nurse Specialist preferred
  • Five years clinical nursing experience with three years in a clinical specialty
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days
  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
  • Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification -- in applicable specialty area
