Key Responsibilities- Provide education and development to direct patient care staff
- Be accountable for the care outcomes of a service line or clinical population
- Lead and coordinate interprofessional activities focusing on clinical practice, consultation, education, and research
- Use expert communication skills to serve as a care advocate and mentor/coach staff in clinical and professional practice
- Assume an advanced leadership role in analyzing systems to anticipate/reduce risk and improve patient safety/quality
- Promote interprofessional collaboration in patient care
- Partner with department leadership to define priorities of service line/specialty department
- Build partnerships across the system and strive for consensus in practice
- Empower nurses to seek feedback from peers
- Lead interprofessional teams to achieve organizational goals
- Consult and guide clinicians to available resources and policies on standards of care
- Coach clinicians in strategies to improve practice and patient outcomes
- Identify gaps in practice through competency assessment, observation, or available measures
- Plan and implement strategies to address gaps
- Provide guidance to staff in clinical project development and management
- Collaborate with Quality team regarding patient safety events
- Utilize dashboards to maintain awareness of patient outcome measures and system patient care metrics
- Engage the learner for continued professional growth
- Assist in cross-training and preparing staff to transition across clinical settings
- Cultivate a climate of clinical inquiry
- Guide staff in the creation and submission of clinical abstracts, posters, and presentations
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Five years clinical nursing experience with three years in a clinical specialty
- Registered Nurse licensure in Texas or Compact State licensure within 60 days
- Basic Life Support (AHA) certification
- ANCC Recognized Certification in applicable specialty area
