Position: Substance Use Disorder Counselor

Role Objective

The Substance Use Disorder Counselor is responsible for delivering therapeutic support to individuals dealing with substance use issues in both residential and outpatient environments. This role involves assisting clients in their recovery journey and facilitating their progress through personalized care.

Required Qualifications

To qualify, candidates should possess a certification as a Substance Use Disorder Counselor. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred, although a High School diploma or HiSet certificate combined with a minimum of four years of relevant experience may be acceptable. Certification or registration from the Missouri Credentialing Board is necessary, with credentials such as CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, or RADC-P.

For those specializing in Co-Occurring Disorders, a Bachelor's Degree is also preferred. Alternatively, a High School diploma or HiSet certificate with four years of relevant experience may be considered. Certification through the Missouri Credentialing Board is required, with credentials like CCDP or CCDP-D, or being licensed/provisionally licensed with one year of experience in substance use treatment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide services across the four performance domains.
  • Conduct Individual and Group Counseling sessions as scheduled.
  • Advocate for clients at both case and community levels.
  • Engage in multi-disciplinary treatment team discussions.
  • Represent FCC Behavioral Health with professionalism and integrity.
  • Adhere to evidence-based practice standards.
  • Demonstrate understanding of diagnostic criteria for substance use and mental health disorders.
  • Effectively communicate information to clients and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with agency certification standards.
  • Follow established program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
