Position Summary
The Margin Clinical Pharmacist plays a crucial role in our organization, focusing on the delivery of specialized pharmaceutical care. This position involves collaborating with the Margin team to ensure optimal medication management for patients receiving complex therapies outside of traditional hospital settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess physician medication orders for suitability regarding drug selection, billing practices, dosage, potential interactions, and administration routes.
- Support the operations of the Infusion pharmacy, engaging in initiatives aimed at business improvement, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
- Advise healthcare providers on necessary therapy modifications based on ongoing evaluations of patient needs and formulary updates.
- Conduct thorough reviews of selected products for each patient to confirm appropriateness and adherence to formulary guidelines.
- Make informed decisions regarding the approval or denial of claims, ensuring accuracy in the review process.
- Perform audits on prior approvals to verify compliance and reimbursement accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for brand-to-generic conversions to enhance patient affordability.
- Act as a primary resource for internal stakeholders seeking medical and drug information.
- Recognize and address problem areas effectively, coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve root causes.
- Maintain comprehensive patient databases, including medical history, clinical data, and concurrent medications.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide necessary clinical and technical support.
- Document all interactions with healthcare professionals and patients in the medical record.
- Respond to inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders regarding drug-related information.
- Document adverse events and product complaints in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Assist facility staff with safe and effective drug procurement and management procedures.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD; a Master's degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in specialty or infusion pharmacy practice.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations related to infusion patient care.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current pharmacist licensure in at least one state or US territory.
- Board certification in a specialty area, such as Oncology or Pharmacotherapy, is preferred.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this role, the employee may be required to sit, walk, and use hands for various tasks. The ability to lift and move items weighing up to 30 pounds may be necessary.

USD $103,300.00 - $154,900.00 / Year
