About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Amerita, a leading provider of Specialty Infusion services. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing clinical pharmacy services to patients and internal stakeholders involved in their care.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness, including drug, margin, medical or pharmacy billing, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration.
  • Provide support for infusion pharmacy dispensing and fulfillment operations across the pharmacy network, engaging in business improvement and sustainability, cost reduction projects, and process flow optimization.
  • Make recommendations for therapy changes to physicians and facility staff as appropriate.
  • Continuously review products selected for each patient to validate margin, formulary changes, and medication appropriateness based on disease state.
  • Make decisions to approve or deny each claim that is reviewed accurately.
  • Audit previous approvals to ensure losses are appropriate and reimbursement is up to date.
  • Identify brand to generic conversion opportunities to enhance probability and minimize copay costs to patients.
  • Serve as a lead resource to internal stakeholders for medical/drug information inquiries.
  • Identify problem areas with effective follow-through to quickly address the root causes and coordinate activities with cross-functional team members from Operations, IT, Finance, and Procurement/Corporate Inventory.
  • Maintain patient databases to include current and past medical history, clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide clinical and technical support as needed.
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team, and patients/residents and their family members in the medical record.
  • Respond to patient-specific or non-patient-specific inquiries from internal or external stakeholders for drug/medical information related to any medication within the company's business portfolio.
  • Document adverse events and product complaints per contractual obligations to pharmaceutical manufacturers.
  • Assist facility/agency staff personnel with procedures relating to safe and effective methods of procuring, maintaining, administering, and disposing of drugs.
Requirements
  • Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD, Master's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • One or more years of specialty or infusion pharmacy practice experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of pharmacy laws and federal and state regulations concerning pharmaceutical care practices for infusion patients in home and at an infusion facility.
    • Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Licenses and Certification:
    • Current pharmacist licensure in at least one state or US territory.
    • Credentialing from Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) such as Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) or Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), credentialing from National Association of Specialty Pharmacies as Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) desired.
