Position: Registered Veterinary Technician - Oncology

Role Summary

The Oncology Registered Veterinary Technician plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to our clients and their pets. This position involves assisting the Oncologist with patient appointments, providing exceptional nursing care, administering chemotherapy, and maintaining accurate medical records. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Oncologist and team members in daily operations.
  • Perform venous catheterization and administer chemotherapy medications safely.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA standards for handling chemotherapy drugs.
  • Document patient histories and ensure medical records are up-to-date.
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients and outpatient chemotherapy clients.
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia for various procedures.
  • Collaborate with referring veterinarians to ensure seamless communication regarding patient care.
  • Participate in cross-training opportunities in other specialty departments.
  • Utilize in-house laboratory equipment to obtain accurate results.
  • Educate clients on treatment plans and care for their pets.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology.
  • Current RVT certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a veterinary technician.
  • Experience in oncology or specialty veterinary care is preferred.
