Seeking Skilled Registered Veterinary Technicians

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate and a sign-on bonus

Work Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts with a rotating Saturday

Primary Duties:

The following responsibilities outline the expectations of this role but are not exhaustive. These essential functions represent the core tasks that define the position.

  • Uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
  • Guide support staff to ensure smooth operations during shifts.
  • Mentor colleagues for career advancement and personal growth.
  • Provide feedback for employee performance evaluations.
  • Deliver patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients.
  • Accurately document all relevant medical and case-related information.
  • Review medical records and discharge instructions with clients.
  • Address basic animal care inquiries and direct complex questions to veterinarians as needed.

Additional Duties:

  • Assist clients with appointment scheduling, payment processing, and check-in procedures.
  • Answer phone calls in a professional and informative manner.
  • Provide constructive feedback on training programs.
  • Participate in job shadowing or working interviews as required.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in various veterinary skills including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Capability to manage medical emergencies effectively.
  • Experience administering SQ, IM, and IV injections.
  • Knowledge of common medications, their dosages, and potential side effects.
  • Understanding of anesthesia protocols and patient recovery monitoring.
  • Strong reasoning, memory, and communication skills in English.
  • Comfortable working with animals of various temperaments.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • State licensing as required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in the veterinary field.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Capacity to work on hard surfaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate a busy hospital environment.
  • Exposure to various animal sounds and potential hazards.
  • Good hearing and vision capabilities for effective communication and task execution.
  • Dexterity and coordination for operating equipment and performing procedures.

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be necessary for vendor visits and educational opportunities.
