Role Summary:
Under the guidance of the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, the Patient Account Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient collection and resolution of accounts receivable, adhering to the hospital's established policies and practices. This position embodies the core values and culture of Parrish Healthcare.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely collection and resolution of assigned accounts receivable, meeting established cash flow targets.
- Assist patients in promptly addressing insurance-related inquiries.
- Manage an average of 50 accounts daily based on productive work hours.
- Conduct weekly follow-ups on accounts with balances over $10,000.
- Respond to payer denials within three business days of receipt.
- Utilize account reminders to follow up on aging accounts at least every 35 days.
- Timely escalate unresolved accounts to leadership.
- Verify the accuracy of payments and appeal underpaid claims in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain awareness of fire, disaster, and safety procedures relevant to the work environment.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in accounts receivable, with a preference for healthcare experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
No specific licenses or certifications required.
