Job Summary:

The Construction Planning Specialist will implement an established construction planning program to construction projects primarily within the Electrical Transmission industry. This role involves travel to/from field projects to implement and audit the program, which can be up to 90% of the time. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with a wide range of individuals, from field contractors to corporate executives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and share knowledge of construction planning systems, including Last Planner principles, with construction team members.
  • Document current problems and identify root causes of construction inefficiencies and errors.
  • Collaborate with others to create process improvement programs, including process documentation, checklists, and work instructions.
  • Provide feedback on cross-functional relationships between project development, engineering, procurement, project management, finance, construction management, and other departments.
  • Facilitate improved communication between all cross-functional relationships.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years' experience in field construction management.
  • 5+ years' experience in field project management.
  • 5+ years' experience in back-office project management, including planning, scheduling, document preparation, and information management.
  • Experience in developing and implementing program improvements in an industrial/construction environment.
  • General knowledge of construction site safety.
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, lean construction, and other construction process improvement tools.
  • High level of interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Proficiency in MS Suite of software.
  • Valid driver's license.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in construction technology management, construction management, or construction engineering.
  • Experience in the Electrical Transmission Industry.

Travel Requirements:

  • 50 to 90%, with minimal overnight stays.
