Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Manager to oversee the daily operations of our construction activities, including coordination of sub-contractors, site safety programs, project schedule, and project budget. As a Construction Manager at Dennis Group Construction & Site Safety, you will be responsible for ensuring the progression of the project, providing attention and coordination in both field and office construction management tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise construction activities, including coordination of subcontractors and site safety programs
  • Oversee medium-sized projects, working autonomously and collaboratively with project management
  • Develop and update project scope, budget, and schedule, working with project management
  • Manage project accounting, budgeting, and cost management
  • Establish and maintain site safety procedures with our safety team
  • Oversee process, mechanical, and utility equipment installations
  • Coordinate permitting, code, and regulatory administration and approval
  • Manage change orders and general construction administration
  • Coordinate field engineering and inspection
  • Manage third-party testing, inspection, and relationships
  • Research construction management best practices
  • Collaborate with owners, subs, building officials, and our A/E team
  • Prepare and administer third-party agreements
  • Conduct jobsite walks and audits to ensure project progression and sub-contractor compliance
  • Procure project services and equipment
  • Manage project punch-list inspection
  • Promote continuous and productive communication between project participants
  • Support and coordinate facility start-up
  • Prepare and maintain project reports and logs
  • Work with sub-contractors to ensure schedule compliance and determine alternative resources or options
  • Review and maintain submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Collaborate with Project Controllers and Project Manager on supplier invoices and client billing
  • Perform engineering calculations
  • Prepare permit applications
  • Assist in preparing work plans and work packages
  • Assist in interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews
  • Coordinate project close-out activities
  • Assume safety responsibilities and support talent growth within our organization

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction science, building science, construction engineering, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of design-build experience over industrial projects
  • 4-7 years of overseeing sub-contractors and driving project schedules
  • 4-7 years of client interaction experience, with strong technical, organizational, managerial, and communication skills
  • 4-7 years of progressively responsible job site experience working on industrial building projects
  • Fundamental understanding of all phases of construction and ability to read and interpret construction documents, schedules, and budgets
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD is a plus
  • Meet travel requirements, up to 100% travel to projects throughout the USA and possible Canada
  • Work schedule requirement, 10 days onsite, 4 days off

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and prolonged periods of standing and walking around project sites with uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsites in all types of weather
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers
  • Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
