Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct complex patient assessments and physical examinations, and provide appropriate treatment.
  • Coordinate, direct, and implement patient care plans.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the faculty supervising physician.
  • Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems specific to surgery.
  • Order, conduct, and interpret pertinent laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures.
  • Make medical recommendations and/or referrals.
  • Formulate, implement, and evaluate outcome-based treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Facilitate patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion or postsurgical care.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, other clinicians, and referral services to assist in patient recovery.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
Requirements
  • Current Texas licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Texas licensure as an APRN - NP.
  • Current RN First Assist Certification and specialty certification as required by department.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or specialty certification as required by department.
  • Masters in Nursing as NP or Masters degree in Nursing with completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program.
