Maritime Robotics Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Maritime Autonomous Systems Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of autonomous maritime systems for the US Navy.
Key Responsibilities:- Apply systems engineering principles to the design, development, and testing of autonomous maritime systems.
- Lead technical teams in the prototyping and integration of uncrewed vehicles, autonomy software, and maritime systems.
- Collaborate with US Navy end users to understand their mission requirements and establish a basis of confidence in maritime autonomous systems.
- Develop and lead design reviews, and coordinate the development of technical reports and briefings.
- Work closely with partners in other research labs and industry to demonstrate uncrewed maritime vehicle capabilities.
- 7+ years of relevant systems engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in systems engineering, software engineering, naval architecture, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience developing and integrating uncrewed vehicles, autonomy software, and/or maritime systems.
- Experience developing requirements, performing trade studies, managing system integration, and guiding test and evaluation.
- Experience working with DOD or other government sponsors.
- Familiarity with SysML and experience in developing MBSE models applied to these systems.
- Outstanding organization and planning skills, social skills, and outstanding written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance.
- M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience developing, integrating, and testing software architectures or software test pipelines, leading scrums or software teams, and/or implementing Agile software acquisition and DevSecOps.
- Applied systems engineering and test & evaluation skills for the prototyping of US Navy USV, UUVs, or other US Navy uncrewed systems.
