The Position:

The Construction Safety Manager will foster a culture of proactivity, accountability, engagement, and sustainability through robust programs and processes with the primary goal of reducing losses and liability throughout multiple locations. This key role will lead EHS matters to ensure the Company meets or exceeds legislative, corporate, and industry requirements, as well as best practice standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a safety-oriented strategy across the region and measure, report, and achieve key metric goals
  • Develop specific environmental, health, and safety objectives and create action plans to meet those objectives
  • Develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results
  • Effectively envision, develop, and implement new strategies to address competitive, complex business issues
  • Manage multiple conflicting priorities
  • Maintain, review, and report safety performance
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, along with implementing preventative and corrective actions as required
  • Work with regional leadership teams to ensure all key safety operational controls are in place and the safety action items are resolved on a timely basis
  • Create a proactive approach to safety excellence through cross-functional cooperation, communication, and training
  • Develop and/or coordinate safety training and training tools
  • Integrate and partner with business leaders to promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee internal health and safety audit actions to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Manage implementation of site-specific health and safety programs to ensure regulatory and corporate standards are effectively integrated into standard operating procedures
  • Provide Safety Policy guidance and interpretation to field management when appropriate
  • Ensure countermeasures are properly identified to prevent reoccurrence by utilizing a robust incident investigation process
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with Safety Team and Lead Safety Manager to develop solutions, programs, and policies
  • Provide strategy in the development or deployment of a behavior-based safety program
  • Ensure timely coordination of all regulatory or Company required testing and training, including industrial hygiene testing
  • Maintain Safety Information System records and compile reports from database
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
