The Black Whale is a high-volume restaurant located on the South Coast of Massachusetts, serving innovative coastal cuisine. As part of Servedwell Hospitality, we pride ourselves on providing excellent service and a unique waterfront dining experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, developing and directing hourly team members, and ensuring consistent execution of our quality standards and operating systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the restaurant's front-of-house operations, including supervising hourly team members and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve restaurant performance, including sales growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Partners to achieve business objectives and implement company-wide initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Manage inventory, labor costs, and other operational expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers and vendors.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working as a manager in a similar restaurant concept or successful management experience with The Black Whale.
  • Successful completion of The Black Whale Management Training Program.
  • Successful completion of AGM Development Guide.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong leadership and ability to lead high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to obtain results through others.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve positive financial results.
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.

  • Sufficient mobility, including bending, turning, twisting upper body, reaching.
  • Able to transport and carry objects (such as cases of product and food plates) up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to maintain a clean dining room and pick up any debris off the floor in all areas of the restaurant.
  • Able to work while standing and moving at a rapid pace as the job requires.
  • Able to complete the job functions in a variety of temperature ranges, including cold temperatures in the cooler/freezer and warm temperatures in the kitchen area.
  • Meet any federal, state, county, or municipal regulations pertaining to the service of food and beverages.
