Operations Engineer for Well Construction Optimization

JOB DESCRIPTION
ACL Digital is developing a cutting-edge application that combines edge (80%) and cloud (20%) technologies to enhance the automation and optimization of Well Construction processes. Our innovative product, DrillOps, is designed to streamline operations across various locations including the US, China, France, and Georgia.

SRE Mission
The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team is tasked with establishing a robust foundation for modern operational practices. Utilizing existing monitoring systems, the SRE will evaluate, design, and recommend enhancements to the environmental monitoring framework, identifying both effective and ineffective metrics to track and their significance. A key challenge for the SRE will be to ensure that the current status of each edge deployment is accessible in the cloud, including system health, Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and performance metrics. The SRE will also be responsible for detecting product issues as they occur in production and testing environments, and for developing automated solutions to address these issues, thereby ensuring sustainable incident management.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the product monitoring system
  • Manage incident response, including troubleshooting, resolution, documentation, and postmortem analysis
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and lessons learned within the team
  • Act as a liaison between operational and development teams
  • Key requirement: Engineers with prior SRE experience, particularly with cloud-based products

Experience Required
  • Proven track record in building solutions from the ground up
  • Proficiency in coding for process automation, including log analysis, production environment testing, and alert automation

Technical Expertise
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud service providers

Tools and Technologies
  • Incident Management: PagerDuty
  • Logging: ELK/Kibana, SEQ logging
  • Programming Languages: Python, C#, scripting
  • Databases: SQL, MongoDB
  • Networking: Fundamental understanding of network operations (inbound/outbound and firewall rules)

  • Project Management and Issue Tracking: Azure DevOps, Wiki
