Scope of Work:

This role involves performing essential railroad maintenance tasks that require practical skills and knowledge across various trades. The technician will assist in preventive maintenance, inspections, and the upkeep of track right-of-way components.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preventive maintenance, inspection, and repair of track right-of-way components.
  • Install rails, ties, switches, and other track materials.
  • Diagnose and repair rails, tracks, and special track work.
  • Learn about track inspections in accordance with railroad regulations.
  • Ensure consistent quality in products and services.
  • Complete all required training within designated timelines.
  • Perform all tasks safely and securely.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess a Class A CDL and be available to work flexible hours.
  • Preferred candidates will have knowledge of rail safety and inspection protocols.
  • 1-2 years of experience or formal training in operating heavy equipment is desirable.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of track and signal maintenance is advantageous.
  • Willingness to assist Railroad Inspectors with daily responsibilities.
  • Must successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (Tier 1) background check.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong customer service skills.
  • Must maintain the ability to access government worksites.
  • Practical knowledge of safety practices and occupational hazards is essential.
  • Work may be performed in various environments, including exposure to different weather conditions.
  • Physical demands include frequent walking, standing, lifting, and communication using radios and telephones.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Successful completion of drug/alcohol testing and a criminal record check is required.
