Position Overview
As a Strategic Account Sales Specialist, you will leverage your unique insights to cultivate essential customer relationships, pinpoint business opportunities, and successfully negotiate and finalize business agreements.
Key Responsibilities
In this vibrant role, you will work closely with the team to enhance sales prospects and optimize revenue in alignment with MSC's long-term strategic objectives.
Your Contributions
Utilize your deep understanding of customer needs and motivations to drive sales that contribute to their success as well as MSC's position as an industry frontrunner.
Employ our distinctive insights to address customer priorities and reshape their perspective on their business, fostering discussions centered on customer needs rather than MSC's offerings.
Utilize account planning tools, prescriptive analytics, and marketing research to educate customers on new and compelling aspects of their business that lead to MSC's unique solutions.
Engage Subject Matter Experts to evaluate and identify enhancement opportunities related to procurement, inventory management, and product application within the indirect supply chain.
Collaborate with the Business Development team to assist in securing new business and ensuring a smooth onboarding process for customers.
Work alongside the National Account Manager to implement the overall National Account strategy.
Incorporate economic factors along with a comprehensive understanding of the customer's business, current macro/microeconomic trends, and potential new business avenues.
Conduct thorough due diligence to grasp customer value drivers and utilize these insights to influence a broad spectrum of customer stakeholders.
Establish value with customers prior to discussing ROI or financial terms by qualifying and quantifying the implications of maintaining the status quo or considering competitors' solutions.
Drive progress and proactively facilitate the purchasing decision by evaluating the customer's readiness at each stage of the buying process and outlining clear next steps.
Create constructive tension by leveraging facts from research, benchmark data, and best practices to introduce innovative ideas that challenge the status quo and highlight potential high costs incurred by the customer.
Customize presentations and commercial insights to align with the customer's industry, company, and contacts, delivering pertinent messages based on current industry trends that may affect their business.
Essential Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies:
- Self-driven to meet specific sales and performance targets (preferably with 2 years of proven success in B2B sales)
- Ability to create constructive tension and align stakeholders in the decision-making process to foster consensus around MSC solutions
- Demonstrated history of decision-making, accountability, competitive spirit, and overcoming challenges to achieve success
- Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and commitment to follow-through
- Results-oriented with a customer-centric approach
- Ability to teach for differentiation and tailor approaches for resonance
- Proficient in managing conflict and adapting to various situations
- Bachelor's degree in business, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel as required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical activities such as pushing, pulling, bending, and climbing
Compensation
Starting compensation is competitive and based on experience.
The salary range is reflective of similar roles in comparable industries and the cost of labor in respective regions. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience, educational background, and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to adjust the range as market conditions evolve.
