About the Role

The City of Charlotte is a thriving metropolis with a diverse population and a strong economy. As an Animal Health Specialist, you will be working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical care and treatment to animals in the shelter, including administering vaccinations, performing surgeries, and conducting necropsies. You will also be required to oversee animal health programs, provide training to staff, and maintain accurate records of animal intake, treatment, and outcome.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will also be expected to assist in the development of policies and procedures related to animal health, and participate in community outreach and education initiatives. This includes attending events, providing information to the public, and collaborating with other departments within the city.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to have a Doctorate (DMV) degree and at least one year of experience in a related field. You must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Additionally, you will need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. A valid North Carolina or South Carolina driver's license is also required.

Preferred Qualifications
