Job Description

Destination Pet LLC is seeking a Lead Animal Care Attendant to join our team at Pet Palace - Nations Ford. As a key member of our animal care staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our pet guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the mission, vision, and values of Destination Pet LLC.
  • Sanitize and disinfect pet enclosures and general boarding areas.
  • Provide clean bedding and ensure pet guests have clean water at all times.
  • Prepare and serve meals to our pet guests, maintaining cleanliness of food prep areas.
  • Monitor and record the consumption and elimination of every pet guest, reporting any concerns to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Visually check pet guests for safety and well-being throughout the day.
  • Supervise group play for dogs and/or individual activities for pet guests.
  • Assist with bathing and brushing of canine guests.
  • Remove excrement from enclosures and other areas as needed throughout the day.
  • Monitor and clean pet belongings, returning them to owners as needed.
  • Perform daily laundering of pet bedding and towels.
  • Assist the General Manager in overseeing animal care staff, including scheduling, coaching, training, and addressing complaints.
  • Supervise assigned shifts, working with animal care attendants to maintain a clean, safe environment for our pet guests.

Requirements:

Expertise and Experience:

  • Pet fanaticism is a must - pets are part of our family.
  • Professional animal care/kennel experience.
  • Displays a professional manner at all times.
  • Relationship building.
  • Ability to adapt.
  • Experience giving medications.
  • CPR training preferred but not required.
  • High School Diploma.

Physical:

  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must frequently lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to be on feet for the duration of your shift.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
  • Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.

Reports to: General Manager

Pay: $14-16/hour DOE
