Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures, ensuring the delivery of high-quality veterinary care.
- Prepare patients for surgery, administer anesthetics, and monitor patients during surgery and recovery.
- Perform dental cleanings, assist with dental procedures, and maintain a clean and organized operating room.
- Understand and administer prescription medications, maintain inventory of medical supplies, and perform clinical laboratory procedures.
- Take radiographs, perform EKGs, and admit and discharge patients as directed by veterinarians.
- Counsel clients on animal care, explain medication purposes, and reinforce proper care procedures.
- Prepare estimates for clients and assist other staff members as needed.
- Veterinary technician licensure or certification (LVT, RVT, CVT) required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; previous veterinary practice experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work calmly under pressure, and collaboration with the team.
This role operates in a professional office environment with moderate noise levels. The employee is regularly exposed to pets that may cause physical harm, including biting and scratching. The employee may occasionally be exposed to anesthesia, radiation, and biological hazards.
