Job Summary

This position plays a vital role in the daily operation of the Penn State College of Medicine's Cancer Genetics Program(s) and is an integral member of the team. Under the direct supervision of the medical geneticist/genetic counselors, this person provides support services critical to the efficient functioning of the program, including all necessary intake functions, outreach and education functions, as well as coordination of patient visits and preparation of patient charts for those visits. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide support services critical to the efficient functioning of the Cancer Genetics Program(s)
  • Assist with intake functions, outreach and education functions, and coordination of patient visits
  • Prepare patient charts for visits and maintain accurate records
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Work collaboratively with medical geneticist/genetic counselors to ensure seamless program operations
Requirements
  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience (2 years)
  • Experience in the healthcare field required
  • Working knowledge of various insurances and preauthorization requirements, as well as referral procedures
