LOCATION: Lancaster General Health
HOURS: Part-time, flexible based on clinic requirements, including weekend shifts

POSITION SUMMARY: To deliver nursing care to patients within a healthcare setting. This role encompasses care for patients across various age groups: pediatric (infants to 12 years), adolescent (13 to 17 years), adult (18 to 64 years), and geriatric (65 years and older).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualified candidates must possess the capability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to execute the following tasks:
  • Provides clinical guidance via phone or electronic communication based on clinical assessments and/or triage protocols, adhering to regulatory standards and best practices. Collaborates with healthcare providers as needed.
  • Delivers patient-specific education covering preventive care, chronic disease management, acute conditions, medications, and other critical areas impacting patient outcomes.
  • Prepares patients for consultations using established rooming standards.
  • Administers medications and injections as prescribed by the healthcare provider, following departmental protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assists healthcare providers with various procedures, minor surgeries, and examinations as directed.
  • Conducts Point of Care Testing, including but not limited to hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
  • Collects blood and other laboratory specimens, preparing them for subsequent analysis.
  • Processes prescription refills as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Supports test tracking and monitors overdue results.
  • Removes sutures and changes dressings as required.
  • Ensures examination rooms are well-stocked and sanitized after each patient visit. Maintains and cleans medical instruments and equipment post-procedure.
  • Collaborates with providers and patients to review and adjust care plans, assessing patient progress and following up as necessary.
  • Engages in proactive outreach for patients needing preventive and chronic disease services.
  • Facilitates care coordination among specialists and transitions of care to gather all necessary patient information.
  • Assists in coordinating referrals, education, and community resources.
  • Actively participates in initiatives aimed at enhancing patient experience and quality of care.
  • Engages in daily team meetings with the healthcare provider.
  • Acts as a patient experience advocate, maintaining a positive demeanor in all interactions with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Communicates professionally while prioritizing customer service.
  • Handles all patient information confidentially in accordance with privacy policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks are considered supplementary to the primary responsibilities listed above:
  • Performs various administrative duties as needed.
  • May require occasional travel; a valid driver's license is necessary if traveling.
  • Participates in on-call duties as required.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of an LPN or RN educational program.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) issued by the appropriate state board.
  • AHA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • This role necessitates occasional travel to multiple sites.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • One (1) to Two (2) years of nursing experience in a primary or specialty care setting.
  • Prior experience in triage, emergency care, cardiac care, intensive care, or related nursing specialties.
