Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at UNC Lenoir Health Care. As a Medical Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and timely laboratory services to our patients, nursing staff, and medical staff.

Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory procedures and tests in a prompt, accurate, and reliable manner, according to established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide accurate and timely laboratory services for patients, nursing staff, and medical staff, as well as outside agencies affiliated with the hospital.
  • Meet the qualifications and requirements for the position, including education, professional experience, licensure, and knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Requirements
  • Associates of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or 60 semester hours of college credit, including classes in chemistry and biology, and a one-year curriculum in clinical laboratory techniques or a twelve-month military medical laboratory-training program.
  • Two years of professional experience is preferred.
  • Registry by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or an equivalent agency is preferred.
Work Environment

As a Medical Technologist, you will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent contact with water, potentially hazardous chemicals, and exposure to infectious diseases. You must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds, and have moderate level of manual and finger dexterity.
