Job Title: Utilities Engineer

System One is seeking a highly skilled Utilities Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX.

The Utilities Engineer will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the optimal performance of plant-related utilities, including fresh water make-up and treatment, cooling water systems, steam generators and distribution, condensate collection and return, waste water systems, and nitrogen and fuel gas systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in plant utility engineering. A PMP certification and strong knowledge of utility design, construction, and contract administration procedures are also required.

The Utilities Engineer will work closely with the organizational leadership team to research, recommend, and prepare policies, plans, and concepts for future expansion. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with the public, contractors, and other employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and correct utility inefficiencies and limitations
  • Develop and maintain utility balances
  • Support and provide input to capital projects
  • Provide guidelines for troubleshooting or utilities savings opportunities
  • Identify and correct wastewater inefficiencies and limitations that could affect future growth
  • Identify any significant utility and process equipment/piping/tankage that are nearing the end of their life cycle and should be considered for repairs/replacement/upgrades

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent in science fields
  • PMP certification
  • 5+ years of experience in plant utility engineering
  • Strong knowledge of utility design, construction, and contract administration procedures
  • Knowledge of modern and effective engineering specifications, and state and federal regulations relating to utility systems

Working Conditions:

  • Subject to extreme heat, vibration, and hazards

Compensation:

$120k-$130k
