Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager - Scrum Master to join our team at Northeast Credit Union. As a key member of our Agile team, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of ongoing and incremental value in our products.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Agile methodologies and experience in coaching teams to adopt and improve their processes. You will work closely with our Product Owner to guide the team in delivering prioritized work aligned to organizational goals and objectives.

In this role, you will also be responsible for fostering a culture of transparency, inspection, and adaptation within the team. You will help to identify trade-offs between short- and long-term benefits and drive shared vision between the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively coach and educate on Agile methodologies and practices to build high-performing Agile development teams.
  • Ensure team actions are aligned with the product team goals/vision.
  • Demonstrate servant leadership, facilitating Scrum process and ceremonies.
  • Leverage strong problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills to coach and mentor team members across various roles within a Scrum team.
  • Help to identify trade-offs between short- and long-term benefits to drive shared vision between the team.
  • Act as a shield from external distractions, protecting the team from interference and removing obstacles so that the team can deliver the sprint goal.
  • Effectively communicate with all team members, ensuring information is shared clearly, promptly, and unambiguously.
  • Promote transparency within the team and across the organization, building trust between the team and stakeholders.
  • Foster an open, professional, collaborative team environment, facilitating healthy team dynamics.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, helping the team regularly inspect, adapt, and enhance their practices.
  • Ensure Scrum practices are effectively used and improved within and across teams.
Requirements
  • Experienced with Scrum framework.
  • Experience making teams accountable and motivated to strive for continuous improvement.
  • Team Leadership - Experienced in assessing how the team is doing and drive necessary actions to improve.
  • Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust across the team.
  • Skilled in building relationships and navigating through organizations.
  • Passion for driving teams towards high performance with a deep pride in quality craftsmanship that delights users.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills. A problem solver who succeeds in ambiguous situations and advocates for the best possible solution.
  • Self-aware of cognitive biases and their impact on decision making, focused on the primary aim to build high-performing teams, develop team members, and outcomes that matter to customers.
  • Assertive, with the confidence to be the voice of authority - not afraid to do what is best for the team.
Education, Training, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required and Agile Scrum Certification.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience with Agile and Scrum.
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence for work breakdown, tracking, reporting, and documentation. White Board products (Miro, Jira).
  • Significant experience acting as a servant leader in a fast-moving banking/financial industry environment.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile principles and the flexibility to adapt their experience to new and evolving environments.
  • Knowledgeable about various Agile methodologies and experienced in coaching teams.
