Early Childhood Education Assistant

The Head Start Center Instructional Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the educational development of preschool children. This position is responsible for implementing instructional experiences under the direction of the Head Start Teacher, ensuring a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters social, emotional, physical, and educational growth.
Key Responsibilities- Curriculum Implementation: Assist in planning and implementing instructional activities that align with the Head Start Program Performance Standards and promote child development.
- Child Engagement: Ensure every child is engaged and challenged by a variety of learning experiences, incorporating their interests and abilities.
- Professional Development: Complete required annual training and professional development hours to enhance knowledge and skills in early childhood education.
- Cultural Competence: Promote the development of English Language Learners and ensure they make significant progress in their primary language and English.
- Classroom Environment: Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy environment that supports child development and learning, while adhering to teacher-child ratios and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
- Assessment and Documentation: Assist the Teacher in assessing children and completing documentation and recordkeeping in a timely and accurate manner.
- Staff Relationships: Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes staff relationships and a climate conducive to learning.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required).
- Experience: Experience working in a team environment, with children, and possessing reliable transportation.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work well with individuals of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
