About the Job

As a CAT Scan Technologist at Mcare Agency LLC, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our radiology team.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, adhering to established protocols and documentation requirements.
  2. Assume responsibility for designated areas and procedures, producing high-quality technical images and reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.
  3. Assist physicians during procedures as necessary, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
  4. Perform equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, maintaining accurate records and reporting any issues to senior staff.
  5. Work on call, holiday, overtime, and/or day, evening, and overnight shift coverage to ensure adequate and safe coverage for the department.
  6. Maintain the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories, adhering to hospital standards and protocols.
  7. Process images or print CDs as needed, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results.
  8. Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, and documenting information on patients in EPIC, hospital RIS, and PACs digital x-ray system.
  9. Notify transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to the floor.
  10. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor, providing guidance and support to colleagues.
  11. Treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards.
  12. Introduce yourself, use two patient identifiers, and explain the exam to the patient and/or family members.
  13. Be knowledgeable and skilled in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations, including neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups.
  14. Perform New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations, adhering to established standards and protocols.
  15. Perform other related duties as required, attending staff meetings and in-service training.
  16. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital.
  17. Be on standby/call for emergency department coverage.
  18. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
  19. Be aware of department-specific protocols and policies, such as Stroke Program/Code Gray, IV & Oral contrast, etc.
Requirements

The CAT Scan Technologist must be a graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program. NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit is required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and/or (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection. Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from date of hire. Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year of birth. DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation. BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire. Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.

The person in this position needs to occasionally move about the department to access patients and paperwork. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery. The person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questions about their test and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Frequently move and position patients for exams. May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) database and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
