Job Title: CAT Scan Technologist

Max Populi is seeking a skilled CAT Scan Technologist to join our team in a dynamic and award-winning community-based hospital. As a CAT Scan Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and position patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol.
  • Assume responsibility for designated areas and/or procedures, producing good technical images and reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.
  • Assist physicians during procedures as necessary.
  • Perform equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed.
  • Work on call, holiday, overtime, and/or day, evening, and overnight shift coverage to maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories.
  • Process images or print CDs as needed.
  • Perform routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, documenting information on patients in EPIC, hospital RIS, and PACs digital x-ray system.
  • Notify transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to the floor.
  • May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor.
  • Treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards.
  • Introduce self, use 2 patient identifiers, and explain the exam to the patient and/or family members.
  • Knowledgeable and skillful in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations.
  • Perform New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations.
  • Perform other related duties as required, attend staff meetings, and in-service.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program.
  • NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
  • ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and/or (CT) certified and/or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.
  • Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year from date of hire.
  • Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies.
  • Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year of birth.
  • DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.
