KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • A Veterinarian is responsible for diagnosing and administering first aid treatment, including surgical procedures, to animals under the Department's care.
  • Oversee, assess, and evaluate the contributions of staff members assisting in veterinary tasks.
  • Provide guidance to the public and Department personnel on veterinary medical issues.
  • Utilize medical expertise and judgment to independently carry out these responsibilities, adhering to contemporary veterinary medical standards.
  • Please note that this role does not involve performing spay and neuter surgeries.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate in veterinary medicine from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of a valid California State License to practice veterinary medicine.
  • A valid California driver’s license is mandatory for all positions and must be maintained throughout employment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Compensation is commensurate with experience, with a potential annual salary of up to $152,904.24. Comprehensive medical and dental benefits are included. Cash retention bonuses are available after six months ($1,000) and after two years ($4,000) in accordance with the current labor agreement.
