CNA-Med Tech Job Overview


As an integral part of a dedicated clinical team, providing outstanding care and service to our residents is the primary duty of our Med Tech.

This role involves administering medications to each resident, ensuring they receive the essential care and services needed to achieve or maintain the highest possible physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being through a comprehensive assessment and care plan.

The CNA-Med Tech operates under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse as assigned, adhering to State and Federal regulations and facility protocols, while reporting observations to the on-duty licensed nurse; maintaining a clean and organized environment for medication administration.

Reports to Charge Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers scheduled oral and topical medications according to physician orders using scanning per policy for assigned residents
  • Monitors and records vital signs in accordance with physician orders and practice standards
  • Reports any unusual or adverse medication side effects to the Charge Nurse
  • Maintains precise documentation of all medications and treatments based on policy and best practices
  • Assists the Charge Nurse with returning, reordering, and disposing of medications per facility policy
  • Notifies the Charge Nurse of any expired medications and any anticipated shortages of medications or supplies
  • Provides suggestions to resolve issues or enhance the medication system to the Charge Nurse

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be a graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and listed on the Maine CNA Registry
  • Proficient in using our computer-based Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
