Job Overview

Position: Freight Securement Specialist

The Freight Securement Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting with the safe and efficient tarping of freight on Kaiser Transport Inc. trailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Drivers in freight securement:
    • Provide assistance to Drivers in securing freight properly.
    • Oversee securement tasks to maintain safety and efficiency.
    • Identify and address safety issues and hazardous conditions.
  • Help Drivers with the tarping and securing of freight.
  • Note: Operating a forklift is not part of this role.

This position emphasizes teamwork and effective communication between Drivers and Yard leaders.

  • Regularly check in and prioritize tasks for the shift.
  • Coordinate the loading and unloading of freight on vehicles, ensuring adherence to securement protocols.
  • Comply with all OSHA/DOT safety regulations and contribute to a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively to meet team performance goals.
  • Engage with drivers, dispatchers, and other staff to facilitate timely loading and unloading operations.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of facilities.
  • Conduct regular yard maintenance tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading and speaking English.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors and colleagues.
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Full range of motion in wrists, arms, and hands.
  • Good physical coordination is essential.
  • Ability to work at heights, potentially up to 20 feet.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 130 pounds.
  • Ability to exert moderate to maximum effort in pushing and pulling tasks.
  • Must be able to bend and kneel while lifting.
  • Ability to reach and twist while performing various physical tasks.
  • Good balance for climbing, bending, lifting, and navigating around cargo.
  • Must have good hearing and vision; passing a color vision test is required.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of drug tests, background checks, and a physical assessment.

Compensation Structure: $20 - $22 per hour. This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring availability for up to 50 hours per week, including weekends as needed. The work shift typically begins at 4 PM and concludes based on operational requirements. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors year-round.
