Security Officer

The Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the hospital environment. This includes engaging in investigations and making arrests when necessary. The officer is assigned to patrol specific areas and responds to both routine and emergency calls for assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Conduct regular patrols within the hospital and surrounding areas, including parking lots, to maintain a visible security presence and remain vigilant for any criminal activities or requests for help. Provide essential security services to the facility and assist visitors as needed.
+ Respond promptly to calls for assistance and emergencies, exercising sound judgment and quick decision-making to manage potentially dangerous situations. Support medical staff in restraining patients when required and perform Basic Life Support (BLS) as necessary. Act as the first responder to fire alarms, chemical spills, and emergency situations.
+ Carry out preliminary investigations related to incidents involving patients and visitors. Collaborate closely with local law enforcement agencies when necessary and maintain accurate records of daily activities. Document all unusual incidents and criminal activities in incident reports, including vehicular accidents and suspicious behavior.
+ Oversee the facility's lost and found department, ensuring that valuable items are secured to prevent loss or theft. Responsibilities may include transporting funds to designated banks and assisting with air ambulance landings.
+ Monitor and review security surveillance systems and alarms to ensure the safety of the premises.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate's Degree is preferred.
Licensure: A current OPOTA Certificate, BLS certification, and NAPPI training within the first six months of employment are required. IAHSS Basic Security Certification (or equivalent) is preferred.
Experience: Candidates must successfully pass bi-annual firearms qualifications and meet minimum physical fitness standards based on the Cooper Institute's norms for law enforcement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required, with a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. 1-3 years of relevant experience is preferred.
