About the Role

Mayo Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the Clinical Labs department. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, identify, and process biological specimens, including blood and urine samples.
  • Verify specimen labels and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform various clerical and laboratory duties, including supply inventory management, filing, and cleaning.
  • Work with computer information systems on a daily basis.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of laboratory functions, medical terminology, and a background in science are preferred.
  • Previous experience or knowledge of computers, keyboarding, telephone operations, and office equipment is desired.
  • Ability to accurately read specimen labels and work with numbers to prevent mislabeling.
  • Must be organized, able to prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess good human relations skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Must be able to accommodate scheduling adjustments, off-shifts, holidays, and weekend work assignments.
