The House Supervisor RN plays a pivotal role in overseeing patient care across various clinical settings during assigned shifts. This position is essential in advocating for resource allocation to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care that aligns with established standards.


As a clinical mentor, the House Supervisor provides critical clinical and administrative support in the absence of department leadership. This role fosters a culture of shared decision-making and professional autonomy, ensuring that nursing staff are informed about organizational initiatives and vice versa. The House Supervisor exemplifies best practices in clinical care and is responsible for creating an environment that promotes positive patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in achieving human resource objectives by participating in the selection, orientation, education, assignment, scheduling, coaching, and counseling of staff; communicate job expectations and uphold policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with nursing managers and directors to ensure the continuous delivery of high-quality nursing care, adhering to state nursing regulations and measuring health outcomes against established standards.
  • Contribute to nursing operational standards by providing insights for strategic planning and reviews; implement quality, productivity, and customer service standards; identify system improvements and engage collaboratively in enhancements.
  • Engage with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure quality care, conduct patient/family rounding, and address complaints or concerns.
  • Respond to emergencies and unusual events, serving as an advisor and providing assistance as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to foster an environment of interactive leadership and collegial relationships.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, adaptability, and clinical competence while making timely decisions. Lead and collaborate with staff at all levels during challenging situations, including resource allocation and patient placement.
  • Effectively manage issues and maintain composure in high-stress scenarios, taking ownership of organizational goals and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State Registered Nurse License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Two years of leadership experience in a clinical setting.
  • Certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, as well as lift and carry supplies and equipment.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires onsite presence.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage ranges from $37.80 to $47.21.
