About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at Comprehensive Outpatient Joint and Spine Institute. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures
  • Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment
  • Assist in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment
  • Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operatively
  • Assist in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up-to-date
  • Retain all specimens to be sent to pathology and confirm source and name with the surgeon
  • Transport surgical equipment to cleaning areas and assist in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets
  • Interact effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members
  • Use Standard Universal Precautions, hand hygiene, and personal protective equipment to ensure personal safety and a safe environment
  • Participate in environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and emergency preparedness drills
  • Follow equipment and safety guidelines and use equipment knowledgeably
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees
