SUMMARY

Accountable for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities and surrounding areas, managing inventory of supplies, and performing minor repairs on Head Start equipment through the execution of the following responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily cleaning of the facility.
  • Regularly sweeps and mops restrooms (including sinks, water fountains, and toilets), cafeteria, and hallways.
  • Empties waste receptacles daily, ensuring no waste remains overnight.
  • Organizes and secures all cleaning supplies in a designated locked area.
  • Restocks paper supplies in all restrooms on a daily basis.
  • Performs daily cleaning of offices, including vacuuming carpets and mopping hard floor surfaces.
  • Maintains the landscape of the facility in accordance with agency standards.
  • Strips, waxes, and buffs floors as necessary.
  • Shampoos carpets as required.
  • Acts as Bus Monitor when assigned.
  • Operates a bus to transport children to and from educational settings and field trips as needed.
  • Delivers breakfast, lunch, and snacks as required for meals provided under the CACFP program.

QUALIFICATIONS

To successfully perform this role, an individual must be capable of executing each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months of related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.

Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Incumbent must demonstrate a working knowledge of basic hand cleaning tools, carpet cleaner, scrubber, vacuum cleaner, and basic hand tools.



OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Incumbent must demonstrate the ability to read, understand and follow instructions on use of chemicals and cleaning supplies. Employee must pass a pre-employment physical, TB test, and drug screening and submit to random drug screenings.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Incumbent must possess/maintain or obtain/maintain within 90 days of employment, a current CDL and valid state issued driver's license.
