Position Overview:
This role involves on-call, hands-on training aimed at supporting the Nutrition Services program within the school district.

Under the supervision of the cafeteria manager or designated personnel, the employee will aid in the preparation and serving of nutritious meals while ensuring cleanliness within the designated time frame. This is essential for maintaining a high-quality, self-sustaining program that aligns with budgetary goals and promotes the nutritional health of students as part of their educational experience.

Responsibilities include engaging with kitchen staff, school personnel, students, and the public in a professional and collaborative manner. Opportunity for Development:

This is an on-call position with variable hours depending on site needs. There are no guaranteed hours or benefits associated with this role.



Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and adhere to the procedures, policies, and standards of the Nutrition Services program.

- Execute routine food preparation, meal service, and sanitation tasks under the guidance of the cafeteria manager or designated staff, following established food safety protocols.

- Clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, including operating dishwashing machinery according to standard procedures.
- Assist colleagues in food preparation and cleaning tasks with a positive attitude.

- Maintain a professional demeanor and a willingness to learn and adapt to various responsibilities at the site.

- Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to fulfill the responsibilities outlined.

- Availability to work at any school location on an on-call basis, Monday through Friday, with hours varying by assignment.

- Ability to follow directions and apply meal preparation fundamentals while adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines and USDA regulations.

- Willingness to learn about the Nutrition Services program, including knowledge of kitchen tools, safety protocols, and portion control methods.


Requirements:
- Obtain a food handler's permit within 14 days of hire. - Provide proof of Hepatitis A vaccination or a waiver within 14 days of hire. - Current background check and fingerprint record on file. - Must pass a 30-pound lift exam.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED. - Commitment to ongoing professional development through workshops and training sessions.

- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.

- Basic mathematical skills and ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

- Previous experience in food service is beneficial but not mandatory.

- General computer skills are advantageous.

Training:
- Willingness to learn and retain knowledge while performing assigned tasks. - Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing workloads.

Physical Requirements:
- Must possess the physical capability to regularly attend work and perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Ability to lift 30 pounds without assistance, bend, reach overhead, and stand for extended periods while ensuring a safe work environment.


Work Environment:
- This position operates in a kitchen/cafeteria setting during early morning to early afternoon hours. Hazards associated with cooking equipment, such as hot surfaces and sharp tools, are present. Frequent lifting of items weighing up to 30 pounds is required, along with occasional overhead lifting and climbing.

Additional Information:
- Work schedule may vary based on program and district needs. - Stipends, leave accruals, and holidays are in accordance with applicable agreements.
