About the Job

Frostburg State University is seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic I to join our Physical Plant Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing a variety of residential and commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and service residential and commercial heat pumps and industrial centralized air conditioning systems up to 100 tons.
  • Repair and maintain a range of HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, AHU's, DX units, and pneumatic and DDC controls.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks to ensure optimal system performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to complete projects and meet deadlines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in the air conditioning/refrigeration trade.
  • EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification.
  • Valid non-commercial driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, AHU's, DX units, and pneumatic and DDC controls.
  • Experience with residential and commercial project layout.
  • HVAC and/or related licensing (plumbing, stationary engineering, electrical, etc.).
  • Good communication skills and basic computer skills.
