Role Overview:
The Registered Nurse will execute care plans, which include administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing clinical treatments. The nurse will monitor, document, and communicate patient conditions to the care team, physicians, patients, and families. Responsibilities also include assisting patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility. The role involves collaboration across disciplines to ensure comprehensive patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual or psychosocial needs. The nurse will assess the educational needs of patients and families, providing tailored education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Advocacy for the physical and emotional well-being of patients is paramount.
Educational Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Essential Skills:
The position demands critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision. Candidates must thrive in high-pressure environments and respond appropriately to challenges.
Certifications Needed:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within six months of hire and maintained thereafter.
Licensure:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina or from a Compact State is mandatory.
