Job Summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and assess clients to identify their strengths, needs, and preferences, and develop individualized rehabilitation plans to promote recovery and independence.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services, including motivational interviewing and skills-based training, to help clients achieve their personal recovery goals.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community resources to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Develop and implement functional and psychosocial interventions to support clients in achieving their goals and improving their quality of life.
  • Document client progress and maintain accurate records, including EMR documentation and billing information.
  • Participate in training and staff meetings to stay current on best practices and maintain a high level of professional competence.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of experience in mental health, preferably in a PRP setting, with knowledge of recovery model principles and group leadership.
  • Current, valid MD state driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with case management and group leadership.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality and privacy standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
